City Council Seeks Next Steps on Electric Works
The Fort Wayne City Council is asking the Redevelopment Commission what’s next following the news of the canceled contract with the developers of the massive Electric Works project.
The most obvious question the community at large and city council have for the commission: what’s the plan moving forward?
Penned by nearly every member of the council, the letter asks if the city will still be working with developer RTM Ventures and if there is a plan in place to recoup public dollars.
“The public deserves an explanation beyond an unelected board terminating an agreement that numerous elected bodies have spent years working on, as do the members of the Fort Wayne City Council who were a partner in this process. We would appreciate an answer to the questions posed here, either in writing or at the Council table. The community deserves full transparency,” the letter reads.
Councilman Jason Arp did not sign the letter. He serves on the Redevelopment Commission and voted earlier this week to terminate the agreement.
