City Announces New Grocery Partners in Lyft Project Pilot

The city of Indianapolis has announced the addition of two grocery partners to the pilot Lyft Project. Participants in the program will now be able to receive subsidized Lyft rides to Tienda Morelos, A & I Variety, Sunnyside Kroger and Carniceria Guanajuato.
The Lyft Project offers subsidized Lyft rides to grocery stores for up to 500 families.
The pilot is the result of a partnership between the city, the Central Indiana Community Foundation, Mt. Carmel Church and Lyft.
The addition of the new stores is a response to the closing of the Walmart Neighborhood Market #5406.
“We’re proud to provide even more options for our neighbors in areas of limited food access through the Lyft Project,” said Mayor Joe Hogsett in a news release. “Closures of brick-and-mortar grocery stores like the one announced today are why it is critical that we continue to develop innovative ways for residents to access nutritious, affordable food.”
