McGee will take on the role following the previously-announced retirement of executive director Lori Kaplan, which will take place July 13.
McGee currently serves as assistant director for CIRTA and has been with the organization since 2011. He previously worked for the central Indiana rideshare program when it was managed by IndyGo.
CIRTA says as part of his new role, McGee will work closely with RDG Strategies, a consulting firm that has been contracted to conduct a regional transit assessment for central Indiana. Meanwhile, the organization continues its national search for a permanent successor to Kaplan.
CIRTA is a regional government association that aims to bring more transportation options to the region. The organization serves communities in Marion, Hamilton, Hancock, Shelby, Johnson, Morgan, Hendricks, Boone, Delaware and Madison counties.
