Central Indiana Regional Transportation Authority Executive Director Lori Kaplan has announced plans to retire. Kaplan has been in the position for two years. She joined them in 2011 as vanpool manager and was promoted to manager of the Commuter Connect rideshare program before taking the executive position.
Kaplan served in a variety of roles before CIRTA, including IDEM commissioner, Public Works Director for the City of Lawrence, and chief legal counsel for the state DNR. CIRTA Board Chair Cassie Stockamp says “On behalf of the CIRTA board, we will be forever grateful to Lori for her leadership,” “We’re eager to identify CIRTA’s next leader as we continue to implement CIRTA’s strategic plan and move forward the discussion of expanding mass transit in the region.”
The board plans to hire an executive search firm in the near future to help fill their executive position. CIRTA is a regional governmental organization working on transportation options in several Indiana counties, including Marion, Boone, Delaware, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Madison, Morgan and Shelby counties.
