Chandler-based Electronics Research Inc. is investing $8 million into new production facilities and could add more than 100 jobs by the end of next year.
Inside INdiana Business first reported on the expansion plans in May, but at the time, financial details were not being disclosed. Construction is already underway and ERI is planning to build three additional buildings, which the company says will help increase antenna production eightfold. The new facilities are set to be operational in December.
Prior to the expansion, ERI employed nearly 90 and it has added 68 new workers already. The company is still looking for engineering, production, project management, sales and administrative support employees.
Chief Executive Officer Tom Skillman says "Indiana is the ideal location for a company like ERI. Its geographically central location reduces transportation costs for the materials we use to manufacture our products and reduces the cost of shipping finished goods to our customers. The excellent state schools and universities provide ERI with the skilled workforce and engineering personnel required to design and produce the complex systems the company supplies to broadcasters all over the world."
The town of Chandler has approved a 10-year tax abatement for the project and the company could receive up to nearly $500,000 in conditional tax credits and training grants from the Indiana Economic Development Corp.
