The organization says it ultimately plans to turn one floor of the Iron Block, built in 1876, into a coworking center.
The chamber has been awarded a $2,500 grant from Indiana Landmarks for planning and to project renovation costs. Indiana Landmarks says "substantial rehabilitation" is critical if the building is to continue to be used.
The chamber and Frankfort Main Street are planning to move into the first floor and could eventually relocate to the second floor, launching a coworking space on the first. Chamber representatives say the Frankfort Redevelopment Commission is funding a portion of the project.
