Lutheran Health Network in northeast Indiana has promoted Mike Poore to chief executive officer and regional president. He will also continue to serve as interim CEO of Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne until a permanent leader is identified. Poore succeeds Brian Bauer, who left the network June 12.

The network also announced in June that DuPont Hospital CEO Aaron Garofola was also out. News of Bauer’s departure sparked some high-profile negative feedback, including a large group of northeast Indiana legislators and Sweetwater Sound founder Chuck Surack, who resigned from the Lutheran Health’s board after nearly 10 years, saying the parent organization has "let some great, great people go. And, I just don’t align with that."

Poore has 30 years of experience as a hospital administrator including skills that Community Health Systems describes as key areas of focus: quality improvement, service line development, physician recruitment, medical staff relations and executive level leadership in integrated health systems. He previously served as vice president of operations for Community Health Systems Professional Services Corp. and as CEO of hospitals and health systems in Georgia, North Carolina and Texas.
