Home sales in central Indiana saw a minor increase last month. F.C. Tucker Co. says pended home sales rose 1 percent in October, compared to the same month last year. The average year-to-date home price for the 15-county region increase 7.3 percent to $213,647.
The company says 3,015 homes were purchased in the region last month, up from 2,984 in October 2017. Of the counties tracked by F.C. Tucker, seven saw decreases in home sales with Montgomery County leading the way at 28.6 percent, followed by Putnam County at 25 percent.
F.C. Tucker says the number of active listings increased 5.5 percent in October to 6,996. It’s the first time since March 2015 that inventory increased.
"While we’re excited to see an increase in inventory last month, we still need to strive to consistently increase inventory numbers," said Jim Litten, chief executive officer of F.C. Tucker Co. "Central Indiana benefits from affordability and a good economy with high consumer confidence and lots of jobs, meaning no matter the interest rates or inventory numbers we still offer a strong housing market."
The company says homes sold more quickly and for more money last month, "signaling that it’s still a seller’s market."
