The number of home sales in central Indiana jumped double digits last month. F.C. Tucker Co. says pended home sales rose 14.1 percent in July, compared to the same month last year. The average year-to-date home price also rose 9.2 percent to $214,789.

The company says 3,730 homes were purchased in the 15-county region last month, up from 3,268 sold in July 2017. Of the counties tracked by F.C. Tucker, only four saw decreases in home sales with Jennings County leading the way at 4.7 percent, followed by Brown County at 2.7 percent.

"Consumer confidence in the market positioned Central Indiana homes sales to finish strong this summer," said Jim Litten, chief executive officer of F.C. Tucker. "Traditionally once everyone’s back in school and attentions are divided, the market can take a bit of a hit before rebounding in late September."

F.C. Tucker says the number of active listings dropped 10.1 percent in July to 6,303. Jennings and Bartholomew counties saw the biggest drops in active listings at 36.5 percent and 35.5 percent, respectively.
