Columbus-based Centra Credit Union on Wednesday announced a nearly $1.2 million dividend payment to be shared among eligible member accounts, the third such payment since the lender launched an all-cash loyalty rewards program in 2021.
The credit union said in a news release that favorable financial conditions in 2024 allowed the board to return a share of profits to eligible members.
“Last year showed a strong financial profile for the credit union,” board Chair Randy Proffitt said in the news release. “Because of this, we were able to approve a special bonus to show our thanks to members for choosing Centra for their banking needs. Their continued membership helps Centra remain a financially-sound institution.”
Since 2021 Centra has paid out $3.5 million in such member loyalty bonuses. To be eligible, members need to open a cashback or high interest checking account.
Centra Credit Union has 28 branch locations in central and southern Indiana and in Jamestown, New York, and Whitakers, North Carolina. It has more than $2 billion in total assets and more than 150,000 members.
