The National Catholic Youth Conference is coming to Indianapolis next week and is expected to draw more than 20,000 attendees to the city. Organizers say the three-day biennial event is the largest gathering of its kind in the country. November 13, 2013

News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Just one week from today, more than 20,000 Catholic youth and their chaperones from around the country will converge once again in Indianapolis for three days of worship, workshops, concerts, and acts of charity at the National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) held at the Indiana Convention Center, November 21-23. The youth represent 44 states throughout the U.S.

NCYC kicks off with an impressive Eucharistic procession from St. John the Evangelist Church to the Convention Center November 21 at 5:30 p.m. The procession will be led by the Knights of Columbus, more than 30 bishops from around the country, and hundreds of priests and seminarians.

NCYC is the largest biennial gathering of Catholic teenagers in the country. The event is a powerful, life-changing faith experience facilitated by top national speakers, performers, musicians, and youth.

This year's emcee is national speaker and artist Jesse Manibusan. Top musical performers include internationally known Christian artists, along with top Catholic artists from around the U.S. The three-day conference will include opportunities for spiritual growth, prayer, learning, and service. Attendees may attend an extensive program of workshops and prayer experiences and participate in the Inspiration Junction theme park that includes service opportunities benefitting both local and international charities: decorating backpacks and tennis shoes for kids in Haiti, making super hero capes for Peyton Manning Children's Hospital, fleece blankets for babies at St. Elizabeth's, wreaths for local nursing homes, and donating hair to Locks of Love for children with hair loss due to a medical condition. Youth will also create 100,000 pre-packaged meals to send overseas to feed the hungry.

Live streaming of the main sessions from Lucas Oil Stadium will be provided for parents and those who could not attend. Information and a link to the live stream can be found at www.ncyc.info.
