Caterpillar CEO to Give Rose-Hulman Commencement Speech

(NYSE: CAT) will give the commencement address in May at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Jim Umpleby, who was named CEO of Caterpillar in January 2017, is a 1980 graduate of the school.
Umpleby also serves on the Rose-Hulman Board of Trustees, a position he has held since 2015. He is also a recipient of the Rose-Hulman Alumni Association’s Career Achievement Award.
"Jim will provide our students, faculty, staff and commencement guests his personal insight on the background and attributes required to lead one of the world’s most admired and successful companies," said Rose-Hulman President Jim Conwell. "I have long admired Jim and his leadership skills. He’s innovative and brings a unique mindset to any challenge, and that should lead Caterpillar to an even brighter future."
Rose-Hulman says, under Umpleby’s leadership, Caterpillar saw an 18-percent revenue increase in his first year as CEO, which included the launch of a new strategy aimed at increased profit and expanded offerings and services.
Umpleby will speak to Rose-Hulman graduates during the commencement ceremony scheduled for May 26.
