Officials broke ground in April on the first phase of the project. The full scope includes three multi-purpose domes for athletic events and one with a "drive-in" movie theater, a 150-room hotel, a cable wakeboarding lake and camping area.
Managing Director Tony Czapla says the goal is to provide a "D-I experience" for young athletes and their families and eventually spread the model throughout the rest of the country to 10 more sites. The larger dome structures, lake and camping area are expected to be ready for a soft opening by year’s end.
