Board Chair Marshall Reavis says the search for DePauw's 20th president will begin immediately.
Casey has led the university since 2008. During that time, the school says he has made crucial investments and raised significant funds for campus projects and to support economic development in the city of Greencastle.
Among the biggest projects of his tenure was the creation of DePauw's Hubbard Center for Student Engagement, which houses advising, internship, career planning and graduate school preparation services. Under Casey's leadership, the school also established the DePauw Trust endowment, which is dedicated to supporting need-based financial aid. To date, more than $56 million has been secured for that fund.
Casey has also overseen the university's first comprehensive fundraising campaign in nearly 20 years. The school launched the public phase of the campaign in October. As of June, it had raised more than $225 million toward its $300 million goal.
