Carmel Market District Holds Grand Opening

The event will be held at Market District in Carmel.

The first Market District store in the state is open in Carmel, along with the new GetGo Cafe + Market. Pittsburgh-based Giant Eagle says the stores have hired a total of 600 employees.

Carmel Market District is located at 11505 N. Illinois Street at the corner of 116th and North Illinois Street. The 120,000-square-foot store features gourmet prepared foods, a sweets shop with hand-dipped chocolate treats, an artisan cheese shop, international foods and a bulk food section. The 24-hour GetGo is located across the parking lot from Market District.

Wednesday’s event includes:

-8 a.m. – Ribbon cutting at GetGo Cafe + Market

-9 a.m. – Ribbon cutting at Carmel Market District

-10 a.m. – Media event with Indianapolis native Marc Summers, host of “Unwrapped” and executive producer of “Restaurant: Impossible” on Food Network, and Laura Karet, CEO of Giant Eagle
