Carmel has been chosen as the 3rd best place to live in the U.S. according to MONEY.  The publication was able to pare the list down to 50 communities after delving into data concerning economic health, public education, cost of living, diversity, income, crime, ease of living and amenities.

MONEY only looked at cities with a population of 50,000 or greater, and eliminated any place that had more than double the national crime rate, less than 85-percent of the state’s median household income, or lack of ethnic diversity. The list was limited to no more than two communities per state, and one per county, to ensure a geographically diverse set.

The top 5 on the list:

  1. Frisco, Texas
  2. Ashburn, Virginia
  3. Carmel, Indiana
  4. Ellicott City, Maryland
  5. Cary, North Carolina
