Career Fair to Feature 100 Openings

A career fair in New Albany Thursday aims to fill over 100 job openings. The fair is one of several being hosted by the Building & Development Association of Southern Indiana.
The event is being held at the Prosser Career Education Center in New Albany on February 4. Employers are looking to fill a number of different positions, including warehouse associates, CDL truck drivers, lumber yard associates, structural engineers, pipe layers and heavy equipment operators, among others.
"The way the local industry continues to emerge from the recession, we are now being faced with workforce shortages," said BDASI Executive Officer Charlie Smith. "As we continue to keep pace with the current economic growth of the region, it is important for our industry to be able to maintain itself with a strong and developing workforce."
The career fair will open to students in morning classes at the education center from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., then to students in afternoon classes from 11:45 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The fair will then open to the public from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
