Capital Campaign Lands Large Initial Gift

A new capital campaign in Jasper has received a large initial gift. The $8 million Jasper LEADs campaign, which aims to raise funds for enhancements to various parts of the city’s downtown, was spearheaded by a $1.7 million gift from Jasper residents Jim and Pat Thyen.
Jasper LEADs stands for Library, Enrichment, Arts, Downtown. The goal is to provide funding for improvements to the proposed Jasper Cultural Center, which will house a library and the city arts department, the renovation of the Astra Theater and the redevelopment of the downtown Courthouse Square.
Jasper Mayor Terry Seitz said the donation from the Tyens spurred the idea for the LEADs campaign. "Rather than have the supporters of these projects separately seek private contributions, they are collaborating to conduct a single major campaign."
Supporters of the campaign agreed it was best to think about the community’s future. You can find more information on the campaign by clicking here.
