Mayor Pete Buttigieg has named Angela Kouters as interim chief of staff to the Mayor. Her arrival ensures continuity in city operations as outgoing Chief of Staff James Mueller fully transitions to his new role as executive director of community investment.

Kouters most recently served in the Obama Administration at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. She also previously spent many years on Capitol Hill serving as chief of staff to Rep. Jerry McNerney (CA), Rep. Glenn Nye (VA) and then Rep. Betty Sutton (OH).

Kouters is 2000 graduate of the College of Charleston in South Carolina, where she earned a bachelor degree in Political Science.
