In a video message posted this week, President James Danko said the university expects many of its courses will be taught in the classroom and with a return to normal capacity.
“Health experts are projecting that by the time classes start this coming August, every American who wants to be vaccinated will have had the opportunity to do so,” said Danko. “With that in mind, the leadership team at Butler University is preparing to restore our on-campus experience to normal beginning in the fall of the 2021-2022 academic year.”
The university says it is well aware that the pandemic is not over and the health and the safety of its campus community remains its top priority.
“We expect that many of our courses will be taught in the classroom and with a return to normal capacities,” stated Danko. “It is possible that masks will still be required and that a small number of courses will still be taught remotely but for the most part, classroom instruction will look much like it did prior to the pandemic.”
Butler administrators say a return to the normal academic calendar, a more vibrant campus life, and face-to-face instruction and classroom capacities are all possible beginning as early as this summer.
Butler says it is “cautiously optimistic” that campus life will look very different in the fall than it has over the past year.
