A current executive with the Indiana Pacers organization and a Butler University alum will become the next chief of staff for the university.  Brent Rockwood has been named to the post where he will serve as a vice president and cabinet member for university President James Danko.

“I am extremely pleased to welcome Brent back to Butler as a key member of our leadership team,” said Danko.  “Brent’s passion for Butler and his wealth of leadership experience will serve as a great benefit to our institution.”

Rockwood currently serves as senior vice president of corporate, community and public relations for Pacers Sports & Entertainment.

When Rockwood begins his new role in November, he will be responsible for leading a range of initiatives and projects for the university.
“I look forward to working with many talented colleagues, faculty, students, and partners to advance the University’s mission,” said Rockwood.

Rockwood graduated from Butler in 2000. During his time as an undergrad, Rockwood played for the Butler Athletic Hall of Fame basketball team in 1996-1997. Following graduation, Rockwood worked for Eli Lilly and Co. in a variety of roles.  He earned an MBA from Harvard Business School in 2007.

In this new position, Rockwood will also oversee Butler’s marketing and communications division.

“I am ecstatic about and thankful for the opportunity to serve my alma mater in this new role,” said Rockwood.
