Business Leaders Form PAC for Vigo County Casino

Business leaders in Vigo County have formed a political action committee in support of a referendum for a new casino. The Advance West Central Indiana PAC says its "Vote Yes" campaign aims to show voters the benefits a casino would bring to the county.
A bill approved this year by the Indiana General Assembly and signed into law by Governor Eric Holcomb allows one of two casino licenses owned by Indianapolis-based Spectacle Entertainment to move from northwest Indiana to Terre Haute, if approved by voters.
The PAC says a new casino would bring up to 400 new jobs to the county, as well as a variety of gaming and tourism revenue streams, which will support economic development, infrastructure improvements, and enhanced quality of life projects for the community.
"The campaign is based on three major themes," said Sara Smith, treasurer of the Advance West Central Indiana PAC. "It’s about educating the voter base, helping them understand the short term and long term benefits a casino can bring to a community and impacting positive change for the future. This is our opportunity to attract critical resources to strengthen the entire community."
The referendum will appear on the November 5 general election ballot. You can learn more about the campaign by clicking here.
