The organization says 462 permits were issued last month in the nine-county region, compared with 403 permits during the same month last year.
It is the ninth consecutive month that permits have increased. More than 4,400 permits have been issued year-to-date, which is a 13 percent increase over the same period in 2015.
"Eight of the nine metro area counties are seeing a rise in permit numbers which is an indicator that the housing demand continues to increase in Central Indiana," says Steve Lains, CEO of the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis. "That demand is clear as we saw a record 15,000 people attend this year’s Home-A-Rama in Westfield’s Chatham Hills neighborhood, a brand new development broadening development to the northern tip of Westfield."
Morgan County is the only county in the region that saw a decrease in permits year-to-date, dropping 8 percent.
