He also won a high school state championship while playing in Illinois. He averaged 10 points and 3.8 rebounds per game in four seasons under Bobby Knight at IU.
He had a 10-year NBA career, playing for the Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers, winning a championship with the Celtics in 1984. He was also a member of the 1976 U.S. Olympic gold medal-winning basketball team.
In addition to his role as broadcaster, Buckner also serves as vice president of communications for Pacers Sports & Entertainment.
