BSU Names Dean of Miller College of Business

Ball State University has named Dr. Stephen Ferris the next dean of the Miller College of Business. He is currently dean at the College of Business at the University of Colorado.

Ferris will step into his new role July 1.

Ferris is currently dean at the College of Business at the University of Colorado. He started his academic career in 1983 teaching finance at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg. From 1993 to 2018, he held a variety of positions at the University of Missouri in Columbia.

Dr. Ferris said President Geoffrey  Mearns’ vision for the university’s strategic plan drew him to Ball State. 

“The new strategic plan is very forward looking. It’s where the academy and business education are going,” Dr. Ferris said in a news release. “Two elements that spoke to me are the plan’s emphasis on innovation and community engagement." 

Dr. Mark Myring will serve as interim dean of Miller College.
