Governor Mike Pence has signed a bill into law that creates a more streamlined path for setting up broadband systems in the state. House Enrolled Act 1101 establishes the Broadband Ready Communities Development Center. Another measure dealing with broadband communications, House Bill 1318, unanimously prevailed Wednesday in the Senate. During an interview last month on Inside INdiana Business Television, AT&T Indiana President Bill Soards said the legislation will help set the state apart. HEA 1101 sets guidelines for how the center can declare a local government unit as “broadband ready” once that municipality creates application review and permitting procedures for communications projects.

HB 1318 deals with construction, permits, zoning and jurisdictions for communications and energy production projects.
