Kim Darroch met with Mayor Pete Buttigieg to discuss development of electric vehicle and green energy technology.
The discussions highlighted the city’s "smart transportation" efforts, which include municipal charging stations at City Hall. The pair met Monday at the Studebaker National Museum. Buttigieg said "it was an honor to host Ambassador Darroch in South Bend to discuss the City’s commitment to a sustainable future. Through our historic investment in parks and trails, natural gas-powered fleets, and downtown electric vehicle charging stations, we are distinguishing South Bend as a model for clean energy."
Darroch, who came to the meeting in a Jaguar I-PACE, which is the British car maker’s first-ever all-electric vehicle, said "Mayor Pete is a leading voice in the fight against climate change at the city and local level, as evidenced by his work to install smart transportation solutions in South Bend. It was a pleasure to meet him at the famed Studebaker Museum and discuss how the UK might be able to help South Bend’s clean energy ambitions."
