Festivities for this year’s Brickyard Vintage Racing Invitational at Indianapolis Motor Speedway have begun. The four-day event features historic cars and legendary drivers competing on both the road course and the famed 2.5 mile oval at IMS.
The featured event is Saturday’s "Indy Legends" Celebrity Pro-Am race which includes 33 Indianapolis 500 veterans, each paired with an amateur driver. Last year, the 50-minute timed race featured American muscle cars from 1963 to 1972 and was won by Bob Lazier, father of Indy 500 winner Buddy Lazier.
The event will also feature the second annual Motostalgia Brickyard Car Auction. Fans will also have a chance on Saturday to take part in a pit lane walk prior to the Indy Legends race.
The invitational is a partnership between the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association and IMS.
