Jeffersonville-based Bowles Mattress Co. has announced Billy Bowles will become its next chief executive officer. Bowles, who currently serves as the company’s president, will begin his new role next month.

The mattress company says Scott Armstrong (pictured) will succeed Bowles as president. He has been with the company since 2005, serving as vice president of sales and marketing for the last 16 years.

Additionally, Bowles Mattress has appointed Justin Lemonds (pictured) to the newly-created position of vice president of operations. He has been with the company since 1993, most recently serving as production manager.

“I have met with Scott for months as he has prepared for this change,” said Bowles, who owns the company along with his sisters Karen Ritter and Alice Hartley. “My family and I are excited and confident in his plan for the future of the company. Scott and Justin are both long-term Bowles employees and have great respect for the legacy of the company my parents founded.”

Bowles Mattress Co. was founded in 1975 by George and Opal Bowles. The company’s Jeffersonville factory produces a variety of residential bedding products, as well as mattresses for nursing homes, university dormitories and hotels, including the historic West Baden Springs Hotel in French Lick.
