Bottle Works Gaining Steam in Fort Wayne

A low-income housing community that includes a former Coca-Cola bottling plant is progressing in Fort Wayne. Two single-family homes of a planned 19 to be built within the $14.5 million Bottle Works Lofts development are now complete and work is continuing to transform of the old industrial facility into a 31-unit rental property.

The city of Fort Wayne says all but for of the lease-to-purchase, single-family homes are under pre-lease agreements. The land and the former Coca-Cola building used to be city-owned. The Bottle Works project is a collaboration among co-developers Miller-Valentine Group and Vincent Village Inc. Martin Riley is the architect. Vincent Village is a nonprofit serving homeless families with children in Allen County. It will provide support services and programming to tenants.

The full project is slated to be complete by year’s end and it is being supported by the city of Fort Wayne, the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development, the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, PNC Bank, the National Park Service, Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis and Old National Bank.
