The president of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway says the Rolling Stones concert scheduled for the evening of July 4th represents another opportunity to attract fans who “might not have ever come out here otherwise.” Doug Boles says the track will be able to accommodate up to 100,000 fans in the middle of the infield. He says it will feature the largest outdoor music stage ever displayed in the state.

He says once the concert is underway, its the Speedway's job to “convert” those in attendance into racing fans.

Boles says music has always been a part of raceday traditions, but it was time to try a concert in a standalone situation.

He says it doesn't represent a change in tradition, but an opportunity to get people to “pay attention” to the historic facility.
