Board of Education to Hold Turnaround Hearings

Subscribe NowThe Indiana State Board of Education will hold two public hearings next month regarding six Indianapolis schools designated as turnaround academies for five consecutive years. The board will discuss options for the future of the schools.
No official decisions will be made at the hearings. The board says some of the options up for discussion include releasing a school from turnaround status, continue work with current operator, assign a new operator, or return a school to the district as an innovation network school.
The hearings, which are required by state law, will feature presentations from the Indiana Department of Education and school leadership, followed by public comment for each school.
The public hearing for Emmerich Manual High School, Thomas Carr Howe Community High School and Emma Donnan Middle School will be held April 6 at 6:00 p.m.at Emmerich Manual High School.
The second public hearing, for Broad Ripple, George Washington Community and Arlington High Schools, will be held April 13 at 6:00 p.m. at Arsenal Technical High School.
