Board of Ed Approves First Locally Created Pathway

Subscribe NowThe Indiana State Board of Education has approved its first Locally Created Pathway in an effort to empower high school students to plan their course of study and possible careers. The board voted unanimously to approve the Civic Arts Pathway from Greater Clark County Schools.
The LCP is part of the new graduation pathways policy for Indiana students that was approved by the SBOE in December.
The Civic Arts LCP, the board says, will serve as a connector between civic arts students and public service careers in civic institutions, including museums, public galleries, arts councils and performing arts groups, among others. The pathway was developed by the district in collaboration with businesses, community organizations, educators and parents.
The board says every student in the pathway will create an e-portfolio, in which their academic and pathway-specific experiences will be documented. Courses within the pathway will aim to provide additional knowledge and expertise to add value to the students’ post-secondary endeavors.
The SBOE says the passage of the Civic Arts LCP makes it the first of its kind that will be available for other school systems throughout the state to consider adopting as well. You can learn more about the pathway in the document below:
