Filming has begun in Bloomington for a romantic comedy produced by two Indiana University alumni. The Good Catholic is being made by Pigasus Pictures, which is owned by Zach Spicer and John Armstrong.
Faculty and staff newsletter Inside IU reports Spicer will star in the film along with actors Danny Glover and John C. McGinley. The film was written and is being directed by IU alum Paul Shoulberg. David Anspaugh, who directed Hoosiers and Rudy, will serve as executive producer.
"We want to bring great film back to the state of Indiana," Spicer told Inside IU. "The only way we’ve been able to put this film together is because of the great story at the heart of it all and the great people we’ve been able to get onboard because of it. To top it off, there is no better setting than the streets of Bloomington."
Spicer, who graduated from IU in 2006, is a native of Greencastle. Armstrong, a native of Brownsburg, received his bachelor’s degree in musical theater in 2002 and MFA in acting in 2007.
The Good Catholic is scheduled to continue filming in downtown Bloomington until February 13.
