State and local leaders will be in Indianapolis this morning to mark the start of the first demolition project in a $75 million statewide effort to tackle blight. The Office of Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann estimates the Hardest Hit Fund Blight Elimination Program could help remove 4,000 vacant and abandoned homes. September 8, 2014

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Mayor Greg Ballard will join Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann and other local leaders for the first demolition of a blighted property in Indy funded through the Hardest Hit Fund Blight Elimination Program.

INFO: Indiana's Hardest Hit Fund Blight Elimination Program is a partnership between the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) and the U.S. Treasury. The Blight Elimination Program allows IHCDA to provide funding to local units of government to eliminate blighted properties to make space for a variety of end uses on the newly cleared parcels, such as green space or redevelopment.
