Ice Miller LLP has named Blaine Dirker of counsel in the firm’s Intellectual Property and Data Security and Privacy practices. He will counsel clients on various data security and privacy issues dealing with online privacy, vendor contracts and agreements, IT audits, compliance, data breaches, disaster recovery and business continuity planning. Prior to becoming an attorney, Dirker worked as a software engineer for seven years splitting time between Fortune 1000 and start-up companies. Before joining the firm, he focused his practice in intellectual property law, specifically in patent drafting and prosecution with an emphasis in the areas of networking related technologies including mobile interfacing technologies, software defined networking, network function virtualization, cloud computing, wireless communication protocols, secure network communications and the Internet of Things. Dirker is a member of the American Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association, the Indianapolis Bar Association, and the American Intellectual Property Law Association. He served in the United States Marine Corps prior to earning his B.S. in Computer Engineering from Purdue University. Dirker earned his J.D. from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law with a concentration in Intellectual Property and his M.B.A. from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business.
