Indianapolis Cultural Trail Inc. has announced the addition of two Pacers Bikeshare stations, which will be installed this fall in downtown Indy. The organization will also hold meetings later this month to gather public input on the locations of potential future bikeshare stations.
The new stations are located on the Eskenazi Health main campus and at the intersection of Massachusetts and College avenues, adjacent to the Cultural Trail. They are scheduled to be installed on October 4.
"The new station at Eskenazi Health will increase access to healthcare and provide an active transportation option for Eskenzai Health employees and guests," said Karen Haley, executive director of Indianapolis Cultural Trail Inc. "Many of our annual members live in the neighborhoods near the Mass Ave Cultural District and the new station at Mass Ave and College allows us to provide an increased level of service to our residents and visitors. We are grateful to Eskenazi Health for helping make Pacers Bikeshare more accessible for our entire community."
ICT says it is applying for a federal grant to expand the program in the coming years. The organization has scheduled two public input sessions, located at 132 W. Walnut Street, on September 22 at 11:30 a.m. and September 27 at 5:00 p.m.
There will be 29 bikeshare stations once the two additions are installed. The program, which has more than 1,200 annual members, celebrated its second anniversary in April, touting more than 117,000 trips in its second year.
