Berry Partners with Snack Maker on Sustainability Goals

Evansville-based Berry Global (NYSE: BERY) says it is helping to bring more sustainable packaging for Philadelphia Cream Cheese to store shelves.
The plastics maker announced it is collaborating with Chicago-based Mondelez International (Nasdaq: MDLZ) to supply packaging that contains recycled plastic.
The package contains plastic material recovered using advanced recycling technology from Berry’s partnership with SABIC.
Berry says Mondelez is a longtime customer, and this is just another step toward its sustainability goals.
“By recovering and diverting plastic that would have otherwise been sent to landfill or incineration, we are working towards our common goal of promoting a circular economy,” said Jean-Marc Galvez, president of Berry’s Consumer Packaging International Division.
Berry says its recycling initiatives include investment in both mechanical and chemical recycling.
Last year, Berry committed that 100 percent of its fast-moving consumer goods packaging would be reusable, recyclable, or compostable by the year 2025.
Mondelez produces many common household snacks, including Oreo cookies and Ritz crackers.
