Belskus Takes Top Job With Indy Eleven
The former president of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has been hired to lead Indy Eleven Professional Soccer. Jeff Belskus will succeed Peter Wilt, who will continue as a consultant to the organization and general manager into the 2016 North American Soccer League spring season.
Belskus retired from IMS in 2015. He previously held positions in banking, insurance, real estate, food and broadcasting industries. The majority of his autosports career was spent with Hulman & Co.
Wilt will be moving on to a role with sports consulting firm CLUB 9 SPORTS, which is working to set up an NASL franchise in Chicago.
Owner Ersal Ozdemir says "we are constantly looking for ways to strengthen the organization while continuing to make strides towards gaining a new home for Indy Eleven and winning championships. The addition of someone with Jeff Belskus’ background into our front office is an important part of that continued progress, and I am excited to welcome him on behalf of the Indy Eleven family. Peter Wilt has been an integral part of building and growing Indy Eleven from even before day one. His influence and passion will continue to be felt across the organization and the fan base he helped cultivate. e look forward to continuing to work with Peter in the coming months."
Wilt has been with the team since its launch in 2013. The team will begin its third season at Carroll Stadium on the IUPUI campus this spring.
