Beachbody CEO: Annual Summit ‘At Home’ in Indy

The company behind popular at-home workouts such as P90X and Insanity is bringing its annual conference back to Indianapolis this week. Beachbody’s Coach Summit, which runs through Sunday, will bring more than 20,000 people to downtown Indy for workshops, training sessions and also an outdoor "Superworkout" on Monument Circle. Chief Executive Officer Carl Daikeler says the event celebrates the work of the company’s coaches throughout the year.

In an interview with Inside INdiana Business Reporter Mary-Rachel Redman, Daikeler said the summit takes over a city, which makes Indianapolis a perfect host city.

"It’s so centered. The hotels are right by the convention center and then, on Saturday morning at 6:00 a.m., we are literally going to take over Monument Cirlce with over 20,000 people doing our workouts," said Daikeler. It’s just this perfect location for us all to get together and feel like we’re really together for a weekend. It really is fantastic. The support that we get, we are greeted here as if our headquarters was here. Beachbody just feels at home in Indianapolis and we’re really grateful for the way the city makes it feel so welcome and inviting."

This is the second consecutive year for Indy to host the Coach Summit. Daikeler says the goal of the event is to shine a spotlight on the Team Beachbody coaches.

"They don’t get a salary for this. They do get paid if they engage people and put a group together but they really do it on a volunteer basis to help people get healthy and fit and we have to put an event together every year to really celebrate that work because we need it. We need people to help influence people to get healthy and fit and that’s what these coaches do all year long."
