INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – JPMorgan Chase announced today the retirement of Dennis Bassett, Chairman of Chase for Indiana, and the embodiment of a community banker for the past 40 years. Bassett, 65 has served as the firm’s top executive in the state for 10 years; a term that will conclude at the end of 2013.

We will miss his insight, energy, warmth and integrity.”
Bassett began his banking career in 1973 with Indiana National Bank and has since served as chief executive officer of Bank One of Indiana, president of Huntington Bank in Indiana, and in executive positions at Chase's predecessor banks through four significant mergers.
Managing a portfolio of middle market companies was Bassett‘s start in the commercial banking world. It helped him hone the attributes that would define his leadership – astute analytical abilities, clear and frequent communication, and the ability to partner and build deep relationships.

Beyond his role as the leader of Chase in Indiana, Bassett serves the community as a trustee of Butler University; Central Indiana Corporate Partnership, Indiana State Chamber of Commerce, Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee, Indiana Sports Corp., Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Center for Leadership Development, and Arts Council of Indianapolis.
He also has served on the boards of the Indiana Neighborhood Housing Partnership, Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, Peyback Foundation, BehaviorCorp and he chaired Youthlinks Golf Charity for six years. He was the board president of the Sharon L. Bassett Foundation since its inception.
