It will be only the second time in 25 years the games will take place outside of Tennessee.
The event will take place February 28 through March 3, 2018. Robert Davies, president of Murray State University and chair of the OVC Board of Presidents, says the Ford Center is the "ideal place to showcase our Conference and will be a memorable experience for our student-athletes."
"Our city has demonstrated on multiple occasions the ability to host great sporting events at every level," said Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke. "We gladly welcome the Ohio Valley Conference and look forward to showing their student-athletes the best experience possible."
The OVC basketball tournament is the fourth-oldest NCAA Division I Championship in the country. The announcement comes just days after the ribbon cutting for the new $61 million convention hotel in downtown Evansville.
