The Barns at Nappanee in Elkhart County is feeling the effects of COVID-19 on its performance schedule at The Round Barn Theater.
The site, formerly known as Amish Acres, has announced it is postponing the start of its first theater performance due to a spike in COVID-19 cases in the county.
The show, entitled “Land That I Love,” was scheduled to open June 16.
“We want to take extra precaution as we plan to re-open, and so we have decided to postpone the opening of our first show until Friday, June 26th at 50% capacity,” said Christy Stutzman, who co-owns the facility with her husband. “While this new development is disappointing, we want to emphasize our dedication to putting the health and safety of our community and our employees first and foremost.”
As of Wednesday, Elkhart County has had 1,384 positive cases of the disease, according to the Indiana State Department of Health website.
That number pushes the county to the fifth-highest number of cases in the state, surpassing neighboring St. Joseph County which has a higher population count.
