President Donald Trump has tapped a partner at Indianapolis-based law firm Barnes & Thornburg LLP to become a judge for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana. If confirmed, Damon Leichty from the firm’s South Bend office will fill the vacancy left by the retirement of Robert Miller.
Barnes & Thornburg says Leichty clerked for Miller early in his career. He has been a practicing attorney for nearly 20 years and is also an adjunct professor at the Notre Dame Law School in South Bend.
"We are extremely proud of Damon and this extraordinary opportunity before him," said Philip Faccenda, managing partner of Barnes & Thornburg’s South Bend office. "This is a distinct honor for those of us in the legal profession, and this nomination is a testament to Damon’s abilities and accomplishments as a lawyer at our firm. We look forward to supporting him throughout the confirmation process."
Confirmation hearings for Leichty’s appointment have not yet been scheduled.
