News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Mayor Greg Ballard has been named one of three mayors on the 33-member My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) Alliance Advisory Board – a group that includes among its membership former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, Senator Cory Booker, Representative Frederica Wilson, Shaquille O’Neal, and Angela Glover Blackwell, Founder and CEO, PolicyLink

“It is a great honor to work with President Obama and the distinguished members of this advisory board to help address some of the most challenging, systemic issues facing our nation’s youth,” said Mayor Ballard. “I look forward to helping this group engage businesses in this initiative on a national level and implement meaningful programs that connect young men of color to opportunities.”

Although Mayor Ballard’s term in office will end in 2015, he intends to serve the full term of his two-year appointment to the MBK Alliance Advisory Board.

About My Brother’s Keeper

My Brother’s Keeper Alliance (“MBK Alliance”) aims to eliminate the gaps in opportunity and achievement for boys and young men of color – making the American dream available to all. In early 2014, the White House launched the My Brother’s Keeper Initiative to engage partners and stakeholders in that effort from both the private and public sectors. MBK Alliance is an independent, nonprofit organization created to advance progress in the private sector, and catalyze a national ecosystem of support to help boys and young men of color recognize their full potential through strategic evidence-based interventions. MBK Alliance is a sponsored project of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors.
