Ball State University has launched a new brand strategy it says captures the spirit of intellectual curiosity and bold ambitions. The university says "We Fly" refers to its promise to challenge students and faculty to excel.
The "We Fly" theme was developed through research and focus group sessions which took place over several months. In a news release Monday, President Geoffrey Mearns said they knew the new slogan was right when they first heard it.
"It speaks to the intellectual curiosity at Ball State, how students are learning partners, our focus on immersive learning, the importance of our enduring values, that Ball State is on the rise, and that we have bold ambitions," said Mearns. "Yes, we fly. And we fly together. The new brand comes at a perfect time, because it captures our remarkable ascent and focuses on our values. A brand is more than a logo and a tagline. It demonstrates how our University fulfills its great potential."
"We Fly" replaces the university’s previous slogan, "Education Redefined."
Ball State says the research conducted to name the new brand clarified the university’s attributes most valued by students and other stakeholders, such as immersive learning, empowerment, and campus size. Kathy Wolf, vice president of marketing and communications for Ball State, says the new messaging reflects what they have heard from students.
