Ball State University Libraries has signed an agreement it says will help university scholars share their research more broadly without financial barriers.
The university said the open access publishing agreement with Cambridge University Press is part of an effort to support sustainable publishing models and expand the public impact of Ball State research.
Under the agreement, Ball State-affiliated authors who serve as the corresponding author on a manuscript accepted to a Cambridge University Press journal can now publish their work open access without paying individual article processing charges, the university said.
The agreement covers more than 430 peer-reviewed journals covered by Cambridge. A Ball State-affiliated author can include faculty, staff and graduate students.
“This partnership represents a major step forward in our efforts to support research visibility and remove financial barriers for Ball State authors,” Nancy Abashian, dean of University Libraries, said in a news release. “It aligns directly with our mission to champion access, collaboration, and innovation in scholarly communication.”
Ball State said no additional application or payment will be required by authors during the publication process.
