Ball State Details Mearns’ Installation Weekend

Ball State University is detailing the activities surrounding the official installation of Geoffrey Mearns as the school’s 17th president on September 8. The school is hosting three days of events both on campus and around the community, culminating in Ball State’s first home football game of the season.
Some of the events taking place include the United Way Day of Action on September 7 in which volunteers will conduct community service projects on campus and throughout the county. Following Mearns’ installation on the 8th, the university will host a campus picnic on LaFollette Field near Worthen Arena.
Mearns was announced as Ball State’s next president in January and began his tenure in May. He succeeds Paul Ferguson, who resigned suddenly in January 2016.
