An Elkhart-based trailer axle and brake manufacturer is moving forward with plans to expand in Albion. The Journal Gazette in Fort Wayne reports Dexter Axle Co. intends to add up to 200 jobs in the coming months at its 30-acre Noble County campus. The company currently employs more than 700 workers in northeast Indiana, Georgia and Oklahoma.

Albion Town Manager Beth Shellman calls the company, which has been located in the area since the 1960s, a “crown jewel.”

The company announced a separate $4.5 million expansion in 2008.
