INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The 2015 Inspire Awards, presented by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, celebrated those who mentor in Central Indiana on February 26 at the Indiana Roof Ballroom in downtown Indianapolis. Seven outstanding community leaders were named Mentors of the Year for mentoring excellence in the workplace and community by College Mentors for Kids. The 2015 Inspire Awards' Mentors of the Year include:

David Becker, Chairman & CEO, First Internet Bancorp, was also honored at the event with the Lifetime Achievement Award in Mentoring for his commitment to creating a culture of mentoring in the business community, personally mentoring several prominent entrepreneurs, and promoting STEM mentoring for youth.
Becker credited his success to the teachers and mentors he's had throughout his life and also his experience at DePauw University. Becker was the first in his family to attend college. Becker stated, “What college does is you come in as a rough stone and come out as a gem. Everyone should have that opportunity.”
Shelley Hunter, Board Chair of College Mentors for Kids, said, “The stories that are told at the Inspire Awards truly are inspiring. These outstanding mentors are not just changing the lives of individuals, they are also making a positive impact on our community.”
Hunter continued, “The commitment to mentoring by influential people like David Becker motivates others to get involved and spreads the power of mentoring further. David is an asset to Central Indiana, and College Mentors is proud to honor his many accomplishments.”
The Inspire Awards benefits College Mentors for Kids. All proceeds are directed toward the mentoring program which operates on 27 college and university campuses in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, Missouri, Virginia and New York.

Mentors of the Year are nominated by mentees within industry categories and selected by committees. Mentors of the Year from each category are honored at the luncheon along with a Lifetime Achievement Award Winner. In 2015, the event was attended by over 500 community members. All proceeds benefit College Mentors for Kids.
